Our Friend "The Fog"
Posted: 07 March 2026
Finally, one Nite recently, I awoke to a Blanket of Fog. Oh, how I had been Wishing to See Our "Snow-Chewing Friend"! The Sun we've recently had thru the day, has been helping to Jump-Start the Process of Melting Mountains of Snow that have been Accumulating over the Last Couple of Months, due to Storm after Storm this Winter. I didn't hear The Foghorn, that Nite. But where it is Located with The Ocean surrounding it, doesn't necessarily mean The Fog is hanging Quietly out over the Briny Blue. With temperatures fluctuating, and different here on Our Little Island Town, than out over the water, it may have been as Clear as a Bell "Out-There".
From the Time when I was Born, until Moving out on My Own to 4ONorth, I lived in the Southend of Lockeport on Church Street. Back then, the Foghorn was a Very Loud and Mournful Sounding devise. A while ago, We didn't have a Foghorn... I have no idea why?? We still had Fishermen and Sailors utilizing the Waterways, as always since the beginning of time. Then All of a Sudden one day, in the Last Few Years, I heard an Unusual Sound... different than before. New Residents were asking what the Permeating sound was all about. Suddenly, I clued in that it was a Foghorn. A new one had been installed. It was strange to hear that sound again, after having a period of time that it did not exist. There were Complaints that it was "Off-Putting". So Adjustments were made to its Pitch to Appease those who were not Happy.
Living where We do, Foghorns are a Way of Life. Not always are they a Necessary Tool today. Currently, Most Seafaring Vessels have several Electronic Devices aboard. But they Sure are a Friendly reminder when All Else Fails in the Event you need to Locate a Safe Haven. It's that Familiar "Fishing Village" Sound that You know "You are at Home, Where You Belong". Especially in Times of Distress.
Given the Opportunity to Take a Deep Breath of That Salty Foggy Air, You'd Never Believe its Benefits. Just ask any Ol' Fisherman. He or She will be Quick to tell Ya... Or... as in Today's World, Look it Up on Goggle. In My case, I'll find Myself an Ol' Soul, and Get The Real Gist of it.
Until Next Time, Breathe Deep at The BiG BeacH ~ Becky ~
